Okay, so as promised from my previous post, here’s a short step by step procedure on how to do the selective color stuff I was telling you about .
But first, if you haven’t already, download the free photo editing software called Photo Pos Pro. Don’t worry, it’s totally free! This software is much simpler than PhotoShop but feature by feature, it’s almost totally the same.
Okay. Let’s go.
Assuming you already have the stand alone Photo Pos Pro, press FILE found at the ( as they always do) upper right corner of your software. Then press OPEN ( to choose an image from your computer). In this case, as an example, I chose an image from my computer of my dog Barney. Our aim here is to convert the image into Monochrome ( Black and White) while leaving Barney's red collar in color.
The procedure :
You may crop the image to your liking, as I did here.
Now, wasn’t that easy?

The procedure :
- Now that your desired image is open, press the freehand select tool found at the left side as shown in the above screenshot.
- Draw or trace the outer edges of the dog's collar.
- Press SELECTION found at the upper toolbar. The SELECTION toolbar has several options for you to choose. Select INVERT.( Or Ctrl + I)).
- Go to COLOR and select GRAYSCALE (Black and White) or another option is Ctrl +F5.
- Then watch your image transform and voila! You have now created your own masterpiece!

ReplyDeleteVery good tutorial, thank you you made it sound easy, for which it is. I agree, this is much simpler than with Photoshop. Ever tried GIMP?
ReplyDeleteThis Photo pos pro freezes all the time.any other free software you would recommend? Thanks
ReplyDelete@ AYA If you're running Vista, maybe you should download Microsoft updates, that should fix it. I don't have any trouble with the Photo Pos Pro in my machine.
ReplyDeleteAs Andrea have suggested, maybe you should try GIMP? I believe it's a free and open source software. Didn't personally tried it, though.
@ Noel , my Windows Vista is updated. Still freezes most of the time. I'm so frustrated
ReplyDeleteHey, Aya, try Photoscape, it is also freeware. I don;t know why your Photo Pos Pro doesn;t work but maybe if you're running Vista it may have some issues. I am using XP and PPP works flawlessly
ReplyDeleteVery good tutorial!
